Men and Quilts

David Nicholas's Quilt

Many People who know me, both in real life and online know, that except for three  birthdays in September, I consider this a none-month. Since I can’t make the month disappear, it comes every year, hard as  I try to stop it, and I can’t change what happened in September 2006, I’ve decided to do something positive this month.

So, in honor of my husband who did not quilt, although he was perfectly capable of making one. I’m using the month of September to spotlight some male quilters

My husband always enjoyed watching me sew on a quilt, and encouraged me with my meager quilting projects. he often offered his expertise as I was working on a quilt, he had a great design eye, and helped me with color choices and layout.  One of his last gifts to me was a fancy (for me) Bernia sewing machine. He knew I’d looked at it and was considering purchasing it, if we had the money. He decided we had the money and sent me to the store to make the purchase.

The quilt above is the first one I finished without him. Although he was gone by the time I actually put it together, he helped select some of the color choices.

Are you a guy who quilts? Do you know a guy who quilts?  Check back and meet some of the male quilters I’ve met over the last couple of years. They’re an interesting bunch.

Hi Holly, thanks for stopping by and letting me know I don’t have a way for people to contact me. I’ll have to figure out how to fix that. I’m located in S.E. Oklahoma, about 2 hours from Tulsa, a trip I make on a regular basis.
